RainMeter Tutorial

Overview

This tutorial was made for a final project for a User Interface 2 class at kennesaw state university. For this project the class was tasked to 'Develop an information website/app prototype designed to teach the users something new. You need to incorporate 20 required concepts to develop the website/app.' I took this chance to teach something I am familiar with and wish more people knew about and that is RainMeter a app for desktop customization for windows computers.

Concepts

Jakob's Law

Definition:

Users prefer sites to work the same way as all the other sites they already know.

Utilization:

For my tutorial I kept a similar layout to other tutorial websites by having the nav bar at the top of the page. As Well as a hamburger menu on the upper left side of the screen that the user can use to quickly navigate through the page.

Zeigarnik Effect

Definition:

People remember uncompleted or interrupted tasks better than completed tasks.

Utilization:

To take this into consideration I added a feature for users to mark the steps they have completed and a progress at the bottom of the screen that increases when they complete a step

Serial Position Effect

Definition:

Users best remember the first and last items in a series.

Utilization:

To take this into consideration I placed the important links, the tutorial objectives, and a summary of what the user will experience through the tutorial. At the end of the tutorial is a tip page as a button to bring theuser back to the top of the page.
